1996-1999
- Medical school: Research with the Department of Pathology at
Tulane University Medical School. Concentrated on the expression of
Fas antigen and Fas Ligand mRNA in eukaryote cell lines. The research
included extensive lab work consisting of using rt PCR techniques, SDS electrophoresis and computer analysis of mRNA folding. Results of work
has been presented at a number of different meetings. Dr. Wai Choi Leung,
mentor during this project, still formulating a paper using this research.
1989-1996
- University: Research on the cell biology of Acetabularia acetabulum
concentrated on the effects of blue light on the morphogenesis of tip
maturation and reproduction. Received a grant funded through the
NIH
for a one-year research position. Given as a scholarship to
work
in the
department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at
the
University of Washington.
