The difference can be immensely significant. A Facial Plastic Surgeon is trained through a 4 year medical school program. Dr. Young went to Tulane Medical School in New Orleans , at the time it was ranked 13th in the nation in medical schools. After medical school, a Facial Plastic Surgeon then is trained through an accredited program in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. This residency concentrates on the surgery of the Head and Neck. Dr. Young went to the University of Southern California’s Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery Program. The amount of exposure to the anatomy of the Head and Neck Region far exceeds other residency programs including Plastic Surgery. This makes the Head and Neck Surgeon ideal to perform Plastic and Reconstructive Procedures in the Face. This exposure lead to the subspecialty of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is our governing body and you can read more about us in this link. Other Otolaryngology subspecialties in this residency include pediatric, otology, oncology, laryngology, and rhinology.
There is a consultation fee with Dr. Young that is $125. However, this charge can be applied to any procedures that you wish. Yes you can. However, Dr. Young believes in the best outcome for you and does not believe in doing too many procedures at once. Dr. Young wants his clients to heal the best that they can and wants them to have optimal results. Sometimes taking baby steps is the best way to achieve that natural transformation you desire and Dr. Young tailors his approach to the needs and desires of his patients.
We offer Care Credit and other forms of financing that allow people to handle the costs of their procedures. We will do our best to meet your individual needs. We invite you to discuss all of your concerns so that we can help you achieve your desired results.
Some procedures may be covered by your insurance and Dr. Young and his team will help you with your insurance plan. Dr. Young and Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery do not take insurance, but can facilitate the process if you are applying to have insurance cover the costs of your procedure.
When it comes to recovery after surgery, everybody is different. Your genetic composition can account for varying amounts of bruising, swelling, healing, perception of pain, etc. The type of procedure you undergo will also determine how long it takes you to recover. In general, the more manipulation done to tissues will lead to more swelling, bruising, and tissue healing. At Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Young will sit down with you and to help you prepare for your procedure and your recovery. You will be advised to stop large doses of Vitamin E, aspirin, herbal medications/supplements, (such as fish oil and omega 3’s) and NSAIDS (non-steroid anti-inflammatories), which can cause more bleeding and bruising. And generally, most patients feel improvement 3 days post-surgery and by 7 to 10 days post-surgery, they say that they feel like themselves, although they may still have some swelling or bruising.
There are many types of facelifts to fit your lifestyle. Depending on your needs and desires, you can choose a deeper, advanced facelift with more recovery time, or a less-invasive lift with less down time, called a mini-lift. Mini lifts range from $3000 to $5000. These mini lifts may fit your fast-paced lifestyle and desire to get back to work quickly, but minilifts usually last 5 to 10 years. A more complete face lift, can range from $5000 to $10000. For these face lifts, you may need a week or two of recovery before you feel like yourself, and these lifts typically last 10 to 15 years or more. The key to choosing the right procedure is to choose the surgeon with the talent and experience to give you the results you desire. As an experienced Seattle facelift specialist, Dr. Young has more than 1200 happy facelift clients and, hence, has extensive experience in all types of facelifts.
An otolaryngologist specializes in diseases and conditions in the Head and Neck. One of its sub-specialties is the practice of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Training in otolaryngology / head and neck surgery gives surgeons the most extensive training in head and neck anatomy. This allows Otolaryngologists to have a natural transition into the specialty of facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Other specialties such as General Plastic Surgery, Dermatology, Family Practice, and Dentistry do not have the experience working in the Head and Neck anatomical area so they do not have the same experience as Otolaryngologists. Even more importantly, Dr. Young underwent extensive training in Otolaryngology at the University of Southern California. During that time, Dr. Young learned from the most famous plastic surgeons who specialize in only the face. He has worked with surgeons who have operated on well-known celebrities. Afterwards, Dr. Young was selected for a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery where he spent an additional year in this sub specialty under world renowned Dr. Frederick Stucker, MD, learning the most advanced and innovative techniques of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery for the face.
Board certification is a rigorous process that physicians undergo to ensure that they meet the qualifications and standards of competency that will allow them to safely and successfully practice the area of medicine in which they are specializing. Dr. Philip Young, MD, has achieved board certification in the specialties of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Laser Surgery. So Dr. Young is Triple Board Certified. In fact, on the board certification written exam for Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Young scored the number one score in the country.
Choosing the best surgeon to make you look younger and natural in the face is an important decision. You want a surgeon with extensive experience. Dr. Young has performed more than 1200 facelifts and also numerous eyelifts, neck lifts, liposuction, and other procedures. Some of the most influential people have come to Dr Young for his training, theory, and talent. In addition to experience, you want a surgeon who understands the optimal goals to achieve in making someone look younger in a natural way. Dr. Young has been celebrated for his groundbreaking theory on facial beauty. His theory can make the difference between a good result and an excellent result. You also want to go to a Facial Plastic Surgeon who cares about his clients. Dr. Young believes that beyond all of his training and accolades, his clients and patients are what matter the most. At the end of the day, he wants to know that he has done something good in the world and made someone happy. He strives for the best customer experience and believes in the adage of “everything and anything” for his patients.
Dr. Young has received numerous awards for his academic achievements. During college he received an NIH award grant to study the single celled organism acetabularia acetabulum. At Tulane School of Medicine, Dr. Young received the McGraw Hill Award for being one of the top two students in his class. During this time he also received the distinguished Alpha Omega Alpha Honors, which is a society designation awarded to each medical school’s top students for academic achievement. Perhaps his most groundbreaking achievement occurred during his fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. After spending extensive time training during residency and fellowship, Dr. Young noticed less than optimal results from some of the best surgeons in the world. He wanted to know why that was happening. What he discovered was that some of the goals that surgeons were striving for had inadequacies that could be improved. In Facial Plastic Surgery, the understanding of aesthetics of the face is of utmost importance. Through his discoveries, Dr. Young found that the prevailing theories of beauty were flawed. He spent 4 years refining his thoughts, which culminated into his new theory on facial beauty called the Circles of Prominence. This groundbreaking theory received the Sir Harold Delf Gillies Award for Best Basic Science Research Paper from Dr. Young’s peers at the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2005. Since that time, his theory has been acclaimed across the world.
