Eye lift / Blepharoplasty - Dr. Young Award Winning Facial Plastic Surgeon of Seattle, Bellevue, Washington Specializes and Discusses Before and After Pictures, Options for Treatment, and Learning Videos on Eye Lift / Blepharoplasty Surgery:

You can scroll down for more before and after pictures and informative videos on Eye lifting / Blepharoplasty Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Philip Young is a nationally and internationally recognized facial plastic surgeon specializing in a wide range of facial enhancement procedures. One of the treatments he often performs is eyelid surgery. As the author of the critically acclaimed Circles of Prominence theory, Dr. Young is a uniquely qualified Seattle eyelid surgery specialist. This theory helps him determine the best alignment of a patient’s facial features, including the precise shape and appearance of the eyelids. By using Circles of Prominence principles, Dr. Young consistently delivers remarkable facial rejuvenation results for all of his eyelid surgery Seattle / Bellevue patients. In the paragraphs below, Dr. Young explains his theory and surgical approach.

“The answer to beauty is found in the eyes,” according to Dr. Young’s internationally acclaimed theory on facial beauty, Circles of Prominence. His theory explains how the size of your iris determines the proportional size of all your other facial features. And what happens if your eyes seem small because they are hooded or overwhelmed by the eyelid? Then the rest of your features, such as your nose or chin, may seem large and out of proportion, creating an imbalance.

Below are links to help you learn more about the options for Eyelifting and Eye Plastic Surgery. Below these links you will find some more helpful information, more before and afters and informative Plastic Surgery videos:

1. botox / dysport
2. Browlifting procedures
3. Facial Implants
4. Fillers
5. Fat Injections
6. Laser Resurfacing
7. Mid face / Cheek Lift
8. The YoungVolumizer, The Breakthrough Incision Less Face Lift.

One of the earliest signs of aging occurs around the eyes, which may cause baggy skin, puffiness and vision problems, along with an aging appearance. There are treatments to restore the eye area’s natural beauty, including Botox® Cosmetic to weaken the muscles that cause frowning and injectable dermal fillers to rejuvenate the eye area, such as Restylane®, Perlane®, Radiesse® and Juvederm®, which are temporary.

Botox / Dysport can be used to help with the wrinkles around the eyes. When placed in between the eyes, it can decrease the vertical wrinkles in this area. These wrinkles have been commonly referred to as the “Elevens” wrinkles. You can also place dysport / botox on the sides of the eyes to help the crows feet. When the “Elevens” are treated along with the crows feet, there is a tendency for your eyebrows to elevate which can further improve the appearance of the eyes through what people call the “Liquid / Chemical Brow Lift”. Some of the wrinkles under the eyes can also be improved by botox and dysport.

A Browlift procedure is another option to rejuvenate the appearance of the eyes. By lifting the eyebrows, the eyes achieve a lightening affect. The brows are less likely to cast a shadow on the eye and in turn brightens their appearance. Also through a brow lifting procedure, some of the extra skin in the upper eyelids can be pull upwards and away from the eyes. This can further achieve enhancement of the eye aesthetics as well. When should you consider a browlift? Dr. Young believes that the distance between the eyelid margin (where the eyelashes are located) and bottom of the brow should be ideally around one iris width in distance (the colored part of the eye). If you are at this distance, then a brow lift may not be the best option. You can still lift the eyebrows more than this distance. But when it gets to be much greater than an iris width, a surprised look will result (anything more than 1 1/2 iris widths).

Facial Implants are an option for rejuvenating the eyes. Specifically, most of the time facial implants are used for lower eyelid rejuvenation. Through a tear trough implant, you can volumize the area under the lower eyelid along the inferior orbital rim. This implant throught this placement tends to decrease the hollowing under the lower eyelid and improve the lower eyelid bags in this area. The procedure is performed usually through an eyelid incision that runs just under the eye lashes in the lower eyelid. Sometimes you can make the incision inside the eyelid which is called the transconjunctival approach.

Fillers can be used to improve the eye through lifting of the eyes from the volumizing effect that it can create. A Volume Loss plays a major and predominant role in aging of the face. Your face drops back towards your face and then down. When you volumize the face is pushed back out and up in the process, hopefully exactly where it started before the aging process. Traditional procedures tended to pull back and up, which is different from where you began before the aging process. This is an interesting link on the YoungVolumizer that describes this process of aging with volume loss: YoungVolumizer Introduction. Fillers can fill in the hollow under the eyes much in the same way as the tear trough implant. But can be more versatile in that you can place the filler in areas other than just the inferior orbital rim. The drawback would be the temporary nature of fillers. Most fillers last between 6 months to a year, although in the lower eyelid the longevity has been found to be longer. Fillers can rejuvenate the upper eyelids by filling the hollowing in the upper eyelid and by lifting the eyelid as well through judicious placement. This is a rather new area of practice for most physicians, so you want to go to someone with a lot of volumizing experience like Dr. Young.

For permanent results, an eye lid lifting procedure (blepharoplasty) is used to achieve more youthful eyes and to rejuvenate the face by removing excess skin and fat. Many times, recreating the eyelid crease can be the difference between a good result and an excellent result. As a leading Bellevue / Seattle Asian eyelid surgery specialist, Dr. Young specializes in recreating the eyelid crease and achieving the best possible results. This same technique for Asian patients can be applied to Caucasian patients. Recreating the crease can mean the world of difference in achieving excellent results. Only a few surgeons in the Pacific Northwest can do this particular technique safely and accurately, and Dr. Young is one of the best.

In some cases, a fat transfer to add fat to the hollow lower lids will mask dark circles. Dr. Young can also add volume by a fat transfer to the area above the eyes, for a more-youthful appearance with no incisions. With his very unique understanding of facial aesthetics, he can achieve natural and youthful looking eyes without looking like you’ve had a procedure. The idea of using fat to improve the appearance of the lower eyelids and upper eyelids is a rather new idea. With this increased trend in volumizing the face to rejuvenate its appearance, Dr. Young applied his new theory on aesthetics to develop an exciting new procedure called the YoungVolumizer. You can watch this Introductory Video on the YoungVolumizer to learn more about this procedure and this new approach to facial rejuvenation.

CO2 laser resurfacing is a another approach to help rejuvenate and lift the eyes and eyelids. The wrinkles around the eyes from extra skin and droopy skin can be pulled up and reduced through laser skin resurfacing. However, the amount of reduction is less than what can be achieved through traditional eye lifts and face lifting procedures. The additional benefit of laser resurfacing within the lower eyelid is the thickening of the skin tha can be achieved. The laser resurfacing can increase the collagen layer within the skin to help camouflage lower eyelid dark circles. One thought of why people have dark circles is that there is a tissue loss within the lower eyelid. The result is a thinning of the skin that allows the orbicularis eye muscle, and its dark hue, to show through the skin. Here is a great video on cO2 laser resurfacing to help you learn more about this procedure. Other elements cause the dark circles. A loss of tissue along the inferior orbital rim (relative to the lower eyelid fat pads and the droopy tissue in the middle of the cheek) can lead to a shadowing effect under the lower eyelid fat pads that give the dark circle appearance. This element can be improved with fat injections, facial implants, or fillers along the inferior orbital rim. Or the other approach is to remove the lower eyelid fat pads through a lower eyelid blepharoplasty / eyelift. Below is a picture depicting the lower eyelid bags in the right eye. There are three total eye bags in each lower eyelid. The lower blepharoplasty often entails removing these eyelid fat pockets to decrease the bags and also the dark circles underneath the eyelid bags that are created by the shadowing produced by the lower eyelid bags.

   Lower eyelid bags, dark circles

A Mid Face Lift can improve the appearance of the lower eyelids and bags by being a part of the lower eyelid lift. The intention is to lift the cheeks so that the highlighting created by the cheeks are pulled closer towards the eye. The result is a brightening effect to the eye. Also the lifting of the cheek fat, and mid face aims to decrease the hollowing along the inferior orbital rim that can be a contributing factor to the lower eyelid dark circles. It is our opinion, that there are better ways to achieve these effects with more effectiveness / results, and in a less invasive way through the The YoungVolumizer.

Dear Dr. Young,

Thank you so much for the amazing work you did on me. I feel refreshed, more confident and everyone who has seen me lately says I look great and wants to know what I have been doing or what herbs I have been taking to look this way. That is a real sign of a great doctor. One who can make you look like you – just more youthful and natural. In my business, it is important that I look rested and at my best. I would be more than happy to recommend you to anyone considering any type of plastic surgery.

With sincere gratitude,
