Medical school:
Research with the Department of Pathology at Tulane University Medical School. My work concentrated on the expression of Fas antigen and Fas Ligand mRNA in eukaryote cell lines. The research included extensive lab work consisting of using rt PCR techniques, SDS electrophoresis and computer analysis of mRNA folding. My work has been presented at a number of different meetings. Dr. Wai Choi Leung, my mentor during this project, is still formulating a paper using this research. 1989-1996
College:
Research on the cell biology of Acetabularia acetabulum in which I concentrated on the effects of blue light on the morphogenesis of tip maturation and reproduction. I received a grant funded through the NIH for a one-year research position. It was given to me as a scholarship to work in the department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Washington. |
