More on Botox® Dysport® at our Seattle Bellevue Office:

Botox® Dysport® is a neuromuscular agent that paralyzes the muscles of the face or any other part of the body. When this is done in the face, you have certain wrinkles that become more relaxed because you aren't moving the muscles as much any more. Botox® can be used to treat the wrinkles in between the eyes or the glabella area.

These wrinkles are usually called the 11 lines. You can also treat the lines in the forehead. Crow's feet are another area that people like to treat and this is located on the lateral corner portion of the eyes. In terms of using Botox® you can choose to vary the effects by how much you put in and where you put it. In the crows feet area you can put the Botox® all around the latter part of the eye and really numb this area however sometimes this can lead to an unnatural look because your smile is inhibited.

What we have done for the crows feet area is shift that location of the Botox® so it is more under the eye brow and in doing so you have a more natural look. Although when you look in the mirror and you see that you still have wrinkles one has to remember that this is when you use the frontal lobe of your brain to activate those muscles by the crows feet. During this activation you were using a hundred percent of the muscles there which does not occur naturally and in normal situations.

In normal situations you are using your temporal lobe and you may use 50 to 70% of the muscle activity in the crowsfeet area. So when nature if you have less Botox® there in the crows feet and you're using only 70% of your muscle fibers you look better without looking on natural. This is done by shifting the Botox® more towards under the eyebrow.

The length of Botox® Dysport® Effects:

Botox® usually takes 2 weeks to reach max effect. Dysport® is usually faster at 1 week. Both products treat wrinkles for about 3-4 months.

These effects could last up to 6 months in terms of lingering effects. So you could get your treatment every 6 months as opposed to every 3-4 months. It depends on how it works for you. You may have less than ideal results the first 1-2 weeks. It is important to realize that it may take a while for the Botox® Dysport® to work and get the full effects which can take 1-2 weeks depending on whether you use Botox®, Dysport® and individual responses from these agents.

Botox® effects, are they filling or what are there actions?:

Botox® Dysport® are neuromuscular agents that paralyse muscles so they don't work. Because you don't move your muscles as much, you are not creating as many wrinkles. What you treating are the dynamic wrinkles, the lines created by muscle movement.

Static wrinkles are there whether you move or not. Botox® Dysport® can effect static wrinkles over time if you continue to use Botox® Dysport®. This is due to your skin cells that are always working on the skin. When your skin gets a rest, the skin remodels so that the wrinkles become remodeled and are lessesed. Hence, Botox® & Dysport® are not filling or volumizing. They act by paralyzing muscles. In general, filling can lead to longer results.
