So what exactly is a Double Chin? A double chin can be due to extra fat in this area or can be due to muscle laxity and fat build up. If you look below, you will see an anatomy picture. Sometimes a double chin is due to the platsyma muscle getting loose. This often happens to people after their 30-40′s at least. So if you have a double chin and maybe considering a neck lift, if you are under 30-40 this double chin could be due to fat excess. In this case, you could benefit from liposuction to improve this double chin. Because most likely, this double chin under this age can be due to fat excess and not muscle | plastysma laxity.

So how do you know if the double chin is from muscle or fat? As we alluded above, based on age you can have an idea if it is due to muscle or fat. Also there is a way to do this by having yourself show your lower teeth or tensing up the neck muscle. If you are able to see the strings or muscle edges when you do this then it is likely that your double chin | neck laxity is due to muscle laxity. If you show your lower teeth, and see not a lot of change to your double chin, you likely have extra fat being the cause.  So if the Double Chin is due to muscle laxity and Necklift will be needed to fix your double chin. If the double chin | neck laxity | turkey neck is due to extra fat, liposuction can likely help your situation but a neck lift might still be able to do a better job of contouring your neck.

So How much (Cost | Price) is a Neck Lift for a Double Chin? Depending on your anatomy, your neck lift will range from 2500-20000. This is also dependent on the region your live in. Bigger Cities usually mean higher prices. A surgeon’s reputation and popularity can dictate the price as well. When discussing price, you should find out if the price | costs include follow-ups, ancillary services, facility fees and anesthesia. We generally say that going to the least expensive doctor is not the best idea. Word of mouth can be very useful. The most expensive doctor is also likely not going to guarantee the best results. Some times you get what you pay for as they say.

So How do you do a Neck Lift or Liposuction? We have another page that goes into How we do a Neck Lift and you can get there by clicking here: Neck Lift Learn More. Liposuction is done through very small incisions about the length of a pencil eraser head that are placed under the chin and under the earlobe. The instruments are used to remove the fat. Then through wrapping of the neck, the skin is contoured to fit the underlying new shape of the neck. A neck lift is done through incisions under the chin and around the ear. You can see the incisions here: Neck Lift. After doing this we then sew the platysma in the middle and cinch it up with the corset maneuver | platysmaplasty. The neck skin then contours and is wrapped and healed with the new contour.
