Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a facial plastic surgeon and a plastic surgeon?

The difference can be quite significant. A facial plastic surgeon is trained through a four-year medical school program. Dr. Young attended Tulane Medical School in New Orleans, ranked 13th in the nation for medical schools. After graduation, he was trained at an accredited otolaryngology/head and neck surgery program at the University of Southern California.

The exposure to the anatomy of the head and neck area exceeds other residency programs, including plastic surgery. This has made Dr. Young an ideal surgeon to perform plastic and reconstructive procedures in the face. He also learned about the subspecialty of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery as governed by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Other otolaryngology subspecialties in this residency include pediatric, otology, oncology, laryngology, and rhinology.

Do You Offer Complimentary Consultations?

Yes, we do offer a complimentary consultation.

Can I Get Multiple Procedures Done at the Same Time?

Yes, you can. However, Dr. Young believes in the best outcome for you and does not favor performing too many procedures at once. He wants you to heal as best as you can and get optimal results. Dr. Young tailors his approach to the needs and desires of his patients.

Do You Offer Financing?

We offer Care Credit and other forms of financing that allow people to handle the costs of their procedures. We will do our best to meet your individual needs. We invite you to discuss all of your concerns so that we can help you achieve your desired results.

Some procedures may be covered by your insurance. Dr. Young and his team will help you with your insurance plan. Although Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery does not take insurance, we can facilitate the process if you are applying to have insurance cover the costs of your procedure.

What Is the Recovery Time?

Everybody is different. It really depends on which procedure is being done. The type of procedure you undergo will determine how long it takes you to recover. In general, the more manipulation is done to tissues the more swelling, bruising, and tissue healing can occur. Your genetic composition can account for varying amounts of bruising, swelling, healing and perception of pain. At Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Young will sit down with you and prepare you for your procedure and your recovery afterwards.

You will be advised to stop large doses of vitamin E, aspirin, herbal medications/supplements, (such as fish oil and omega 3's) and NSAIDS (non-steroid anti-inflammatories) that can cause bleeding and bruising. Generally, most patients feel some improvement three days post-surgery and close to normal seven to ten days after surgery. Swelling or bruising can last more than a week.

How Much Does a Facelift Cost?

There are many types of facelifts to fit your lifestyle. Depending on your needs and desires, you can choose a deeper, advanced facelift with more recovery time or a less-invasive lift with less down time. A mini lift range between from $3000 to $5000. They fit your fast-paced lifestyle and desire to get back to work quickly. The mini lift lasts between five to ten years. For a more complete face lift, the price ranges from $5000 to $10000. With the more complex procedures, you may need a week or two to recover before you feel normal and back doing your normal routine of activities. The complete face lift will last between 10 to 15 years or more. Dr. Young is an experienced facelift specialist having performed on more than 1,200 happy facelift clients.
