I Had a Reaction to Filler Injections...
An interesting story about a possible psychosomatic reaction to fillers
This story is about a very anxious patient who came to us to take out fillers with hyaluronidase. She thought that her fillers were causing her to have an allergic reaction. She was having a rash and other symptoms. When I saw her I could tell that she had too much fillers in her cheeks. It gave her an odd look. My assessment was that she needed the filler removed from the front of her cheeks and she needed more volumizing in the temples, jawline area and basically the lateral parts of her face.
I had thought about it for a while and have concluded over time that her reaction to the filler may have been psychosomatic. Her emotional brain knew something was wrong with where the fillers were being placed. So the next time she went in for fillers and they placed it in the same areas, the deepest parts of her brain caused her body to react. In short, her primitive brain and body were saying "Stop, we need something else". When she first came to me she was full of anxiety. After we started working on her, I could tell her anxiety levels were markedly diminishing. It was through my interactions later, noticing how she was changing into a different, happier, and less anxious person, that lead me to believe that this reaction could have been psychosomatic.

The Anatomy of Aging
How the lateral part of the face can play a major part in aging
A major part of aging can be the found in the lateral parts of the face. Below you will see how aging and volume loss in one part of the face can contribute to another part of your face becoming more aged. Volume loss in the Lateral Part of the Jaw and Side of the Face can lead to Jowls and Cheek Drooping. Filling in the Jaw area and Lateral Parts of the Face can help rejuvenate your lower face and jowls. You can call us to discuss this with Dr. Young or Dr. Parikh during a consultation to see how we can help you look younger in a natural way.
In the picture below, notice how the jawline has lost volume and has gone up and the jowls have gone down. This is a classic occurrence in aging. See if you notice it in people you observe in your daily activities.
Here is a page on the anatomy of the face as it pertains to aging. We show where the jowls, marionette lines, and nasolabial folds are located: http://www.drphilipyoung.com/facelift-explanation-and-options/
Current Specials through April 30th!
1. Purchase one syringe of Juvéderm® Ultra Plus or Restylane® and receive our starting Scientific Skin Care Package with Retin A and our Glycolic 10% Facial Cream complimentary ($100 value).
Your skin turnover as you age starts to increase from 28 days to 30-50 days. This means your skin starts to look weathered and more aged. We have an approach that will hopefully reduce your skin turnover down to 12-15 days resulting in younger and fresher skin. You can also add an at home glycolic peel that we can show you how to do yourself. We will prescribe this to you (this is not complimentary). This will further enhance the skin turnover.
Retin A is the most scientifically supported anti-aging product. It helps reduce fine wrinkling and promotes skin turnover.
Glycolic 10% Facial Cream will peel your skin while you have it on by breaking down the bonds between your skin cells. Have it working for you throughout the day.
