CHEMICAL PEELS: THE TYPES WE PERFORM

Chemical Peels: The Types We Perform here in our Bellevue | Seattle Office by Dr. Philip Young

Below are some chemical peels that we offer. The most common peels that we believe can cover most of your needs that a chemical peel can address are: 1. Glycolic Peel; 2. Jessner’s Peel; and 3. Trichloroacetic Acid Peel.

Glycolic Chemical Peel:

Removing the top layer (where most visible wrinkles are) allows the healthier skin cells to come through, giving a smoother texture to skin and a glowing and radiant appearance. There are different strengths with a glycolic peel. Based on your needs we will suggest either a Glycolic, Jessners, or Trichloroacetic Acid Peel.

Jessner’s Chemical Peel:

This is a superficial peel that is similar in depth to the glycolic peel. This peel is made up of 14g resorcinal, 14g lactic acid {85%}, 14g salicylic acid, in ethanol 100cc. The recovery for this peel is a couple of days of redness. Peeling is minimal just as it is with a glycolic peel.

Trichloroacetic Acid Chemical Peel:

This is the chemical peel that we can have the most variable results. It is all dependent on what strength we use. For a light peel 10-20% TCA will give you a recovery with redness for about 2-4 days. A light peel may also occur. For a medium depth peel 30-35% will give you oozing and redness for about 4-7 days. With the medium depth peels we like to precede the application of TCA with a Jessner’s peel to take the more superficial levels of skin down to allow a more even peel with the 30-35% TCA. One thing to remember is that with a deeper peel, you are going to get more results but also there is more of a recovery with deeper peels.

More Options with Chemical Peels: The chemical peels below are available but not as commonly used by our team. Below is a description of those peels and you are welcome to talk to any of us regarding these peels. In general the peels that are mentioned above are our basics and can cover most of your needs.

Innovative Facial

The iS Clinical Facial is also known as the “Fire and Ice Facial” or the “Red Carpet Facial” in Hollywood. This intensive clinical facial is designed to rapidly and safely resurface the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, smoothing, softening, and encouraging cellular renewal. The Resurfacing mask is clinically formulated with 18% un-buffered glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, malic acid, retinol, vitamin B3 and potent antioxidants, including green tea extracts. The second masque is the Rejuvenating Masque, which is soothing, hydrating treatment formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Vera, Green Tea Extract, Licorice Extract, Grape Seed Extract and Rosemary Extract. In addition to the professional-only masques, this incredible facial masque is complemented by a unique combination of serums and creams. Awakening your senses, this phenomenal system incorporates both active and soothing formulas, which evoke aromas of warm cinnamon spice and brisk cool peppermint.

Diamond Tome Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is an excellent treatment for someone who wants more results with little or no downtime. Microdermabrasion aims to rejuvenate and revitalize the skin, as well as increase collagen production (to create a youthful look for the skin). It also has the potential to improve the skin by eliminating or control skin problems such as large pores, clogged pores, dull skin, congested skin, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, poor skin texture, brown spots and skin discoloration.

Sensi Chemical Peel® Exfoliating Treatment

This gentle solution is formulated primarily for ethnic skin, and other extremely sensitive skin types. Sensi Peel® will strengthen and brighten the skin while helping to treat sun damage and other forms of hyperpigmentation (skin discoloration). This multi-faceted treatment also provides anti-inflammatory, anti-acne and antibacterial action, making it an excellent choice for helping calm rosacea, as redness and inflammation can subside substantially after treatment.

Ultra Chemical Peel® I Exfoliating Treatment

Specially formulated to treat dehydrated, maturing skin, Ultra Peel® I is also appropriate for many skin types, conditions and sensitivities. It will help treat smoker’s skin, pigment disorders, sun damaged skin and acne. This treatment is especially ideal for sensitive skin, as it produces only a mild tingling sensation. Moderate to aggressive exfoliation will be experienced, depending on the number of layers applied. Overall, the final result will be plump, hydrated and ultra-soft skin.

PCA Chemical Peel® with Hydroquinone & Resorcinol Exfoliating Treatment

This peel will even skin tone and provide more exfoliation for oilier, thicker and more resilient skin types. It is effective on extremely sun damaged and thickened skin. It is also excellent for those with active/cystic acne and asphyxiated skin (dry on the surface, oily underneath). Key Ingredients: Lactic Acid, Resorcinol, Salicylic Acid, Kojic Acid, Hydroquinone, and Citric Acid

Oxygenating Trio

This is an antioxidant therapy to correct and prevent free radical damage as oxidative and environmental stress to the skin is one of the more significant contributors to the aging process. This treatment helps stimulate respiration and circulation within the skin. It helps promote healing and rejuvenates sluggish, stressed skin depleted by toxins, pollutants, allergens, improper diet and solar damage. Acneic conditions also benefit greatly. Appropriate for use between peel treatments or when exfoliation or flaking is not desired. This treatment is also ideal two to three days before a special event. It draws oxygen to the skin’s surface, producing a rosy flush and a rapid warming sensation, resulting in a radiant, healthy look that lasts up to ten days.
