Lips and Beauty: In the face, the lips are one of three main anatomical shapes in the face that determine beauty. You can watch the video below to learn more about Dr. Young's theory on beauty. Of all the main structures that make up the basic building blocks of the face (Eyes, Nose, Mouth), the lips are perhaps the easiest to change. The impact of changing the lips are perhaps also the most dramatic. Why is this? Well, as most living things started as a single cell the first thing they learned to do was to eat. When you were a single cell you engulfed things. The lips are related to one of the most primitive functional parts of our body which is the mouth and its role in eating. Along with eating, many strong emotional elements arise from the mouth and lip area including yelling, kissing, smiling, etc. Hence, when we enhance the lips the effect is to markedly enhance our primitive sexuality. This is a basic explanation of why enhancing the lips are so powerful and have become such a popular procedure to do. Lip Augmentation Options: They are many options for lip augmentation and enhancement. To start with we would always suggest augmenting you lips from the least invasive means and slowly progressing through more invasive surgical means. Fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm are usually what we recommend to people first. These products are made from hyaluronic acid. This complex glycoprotein that has been unchanged from bacteria to humans. Thus it is produced through bacteria and then treated to last longer. Ultimately after injection it will be degraded to co2 and water in your body so it is a very natural molecule. This is why there are very little complications from using these products. The great thing about hyaluronic acid is that they can be completely reversed using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. We will make sure that you like your results.

Permanent Lip Augmentation Options:

More Permanent Lip Augmentation Options: Dr Young has been augmenting Lips for over 17 years. He has employed almost all the different types of augmentation that is out there. Here are some options that he would suggest considering. Permalip Implants are implants that are made out of Silicone. They are placed through the corners of your mouth, one for the upper and one for the lower lips. These silicone implants will not be absorbed so your augmentation after the first 1-3 months will be permanent. VY advancement Lip Augmentation is a more invasive means of enhanceing your lips by making small incisions inside your lips that are used to advance tissue in the parts of your lips that show more. It is a way of moving the tissues of your lips and mouth in such a way that transposes more of the tissue into the lips where you desire them. Fat Grafting of the lips is another way of augmenting the lips. This entails gently removing fat from another part of our body (most commonly Stomach, Legs, and Butt in that order) and injecting the fat into your lips. The YoungVitalizer is our unique way of augmenting your lips using your tissues with the combination of our knowledge on Facial Beauty which helps us get you the best results. The Buffalo / Gull Wing Upper Lip Lift is a procedure which entails removing skin from under the nose thereby shortening the lip length. The Upper lips is comprised of the external skin / philtrum ("or hairy skin") from the bottom of the nose to the vermillion or the red portion of the lips. The upper lip also has the philtral ridges. As you age and sometimes if you are born with it, the philtrum or skin portion of the upper lip is too long. The ideal distance of this Philtrum should be about one colored part of your eye (iris)or about 10-12mm. A Vermillion Lip Lift is a lip lift that is done just above the vermillion. this approach is not as popular given the tension and scarring that can occur here. But this can be the better choice especially if you don't want your nose to be affected at all which the Buffalo Lip Lift can do to a small degree and depending on how you do Buffalo Lip Lift. Corner Lip Lift: Sometimes the shape of your lips can be less than ideal or not what you want. There are many patients who have a larger central lip and lack lateral lip size. In this situation, a Corner of the Lip Lift may be the ideal procedure for you.

“My goal was to find a method to bring back a person’s natural youthfulness without the operated, unnatural look and that is why I have my patients bring in photos of them when they were age 5 to 30. My YoungVitalizer helps restore natural and youthful contours they haven’t seen in years.”

As we age, our lips lose their pretty pout. Lip augmentation in our Seattle / Bellevue office can restore lost volume and plump up lips that have thinned from aging. When done with accuracy, this procedure can lead to amazing rejuvenate effects. There are many options for lip augmentation. Temporary Lip Injection options include mainly fillers. Restylane®, Juvéderm® are the main products for lip filling. These are made out of Hyaluronic Acid and everything injected is natural and is broken down into natural end products like carbon dioxide and water. The effects last about 6 months to a year. Because of the temporary nature of fillers in the lips, Permanent Lip Augmentation options are being sought after more and more.

“I just wanted to leave a note and say that my procedure with Dr. Young approximately 6 years ago took years off my face. He did an excellent job and I am still enjoying the results. It was very much worth the downtime. I look exactly like myself, just younger. Thanks, again!”

— C.J., 40’s caucasian female from North Lynnwood, WA

“He gave me my confidence back that I thought I would never get back. I can now look in the mirror and actually love what I see and not have to deal with pitted scars in my face. If you or anyone you know who thinks they have to just live with these scars, don't!”

— Ator A., 20’s Eastern Indian from Ontario, Canada

“My procedure went great and I left the office with no concerns and all of my questions answered. I have never felt so good about myself and my appearance. I have you to thank for that Dr. Young. My new nose is perfect, I cannot thank you enough for this new look on life.”

How our Beauty Theory Ties in with Lip Fillers & Augmentation:

Importantly, there are many times when lip augmentation can leave a person looking unnatural as seen in many Hollywood stars. This led Dr. Young to find out why. His journey culminated into his theory, Circles of Prominence, which explains how the lips should look in order to be aesthetically ideal. Awarded the Sir Harold Delf Gillies Award, Dr. Young's knowledge of aesthetics and his technical expertise help him create the ideal lips for his Seattle | Bellevue patients. Using either injectable dermal fillers, such as Restylane®, Perlane®, and Juvéderm®; body fat; or an implant, Dr. Young helps patients achieve the natural, beautiful results they desire.

We are constantly researching for the answers to facial beauty. In a recent study that we did, we proved that the upper lips should be 1/2 an iris width in height and the lower lips should be 1 iris width in height. You can read more about this study here: New Theory on Facial Beauty: The Circles of Prominence Key Shapes and Distances in the Face.
