Why Photos Matter

Photos are very important for our records to document before-and-after results. They also help us understand your goals and evaluate how we can best achieve them through our procedures. Dr. Young will review these photos with you and discuss them during your phone consultation. Below are examples of how we would like your photos taken. For more detailed instructions, please continue reading.

General Photo Guidelines

All photos should be taken in a well-lit area using the highest resolution camera possible. Images should be clear (not blurry) so the doctor can accurately assess your features. Photos should be close-up, with about one inch of space around your face, and should include your entire neck. If there is a specific area of concern, please include additional close-up photos of that area. Additional angles and distances can also be helpful and may be submitted.

Frontal View Instructions

For the frontal view, your eyes should be level. The tops of your ear canals should align horizontally with the lower rim of your eye (inferior orbital rim), and this plane should be parallel to the floor. There should be about one eye-width of space around the face, and the full neck should be visible.

Oblique View Instructions (Left & Right)

For the oblique views, follow the same positioning as the frontal view, but turn your face slightly. The goal is to rotate your face until the nasal tip aligns with (or just touches) the cheek. This helps us visualize contour and projection.

Lateral View Instructions (Left & Right)

For the lateral views, turn your head so that only one side of your face is visible. You should only see one eyebrow. Maintain the same lighting, framing, and posture as the frontal view.
